The scale of shared interest between the UK and the European Union (EU) has grown significantly as Ukraine has been resisting Russian aggression for the past year.
This has led to questions in the UK over the country’s intergation within a more coordinated European defence policy; and whether an agreement to a shared platform for dialogue, beyond bilateral relations, will produce greater impact.
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has given a sense of the shared interest in the past, commenting: “Ukraine has become the centre of our continent.

The British Army-organised cyber warfare exercise, titled Defence Cyber Marvel 2 (DCM2), has successfully culminated in Tallinn, Estonia.
The exercise involved the participation of over 750 cyber specialists, military personnel, government agencies, and industry partners from 11 countries, including Ukraine, the UK, India, Japan, Italy, Ghana, the US, Kenya, and Oman.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based subsidiary of Electro Optic Systems (EOS) displayed a mock-up of an electrically operated 14.5 mm machine gun (MG) at IDEX 2023, being held in Abu Dhabi from 20 to 24 February.
Speaking to Janes, Waad Abujarad and Fatmah Alkaabi, mechanical design engineers at EOS Advanced Technologies, said that a prototype of the system is scheduled to begin testing in 2023.
