The US Air Force successfully launched an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) in a pre-dawn test.
Fired from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, the missile travelled more than 4,200 miles at speeds in excess of 15,000mph.
