Strike drones have taken off from a British aircraft carrier for the first time, marking a major milestone for the Royal Navy’s future air power.
The trials saw British-made Nyan Maritime one-way strike drones launch from the flight deck of HMS Queen Elizabeth during operations in the North Atlantic.
The tests demonstrate how autonomous strike systems could operate alongside F-35B stealth jets as part of the Navy’s emerging ‘hybrid carrier air wing’ concept.
The approach combines traditional crewed aircraft with autonomous technology, offering new ways for the Royal Navy to deliver air power from its aircraft carriers.
