320 recruits. Nine months of gruelling training. One proud moment – despite tragedy back home.
Three hundred and twenty Nepali soldiers have officially become professional Gurkhas after completing nine months of infantry training at ITC Catterick.
But their achievement comes against the backdrop of devastating floods and landslides in Nepal, which affected the families and communities of some of the young soldiers.
As they pushed through their final months of training, the recruits and staff came together to raise thousands of pounds for disaster relief.
BFBS Forces News has followed their journey from arriving in the UK to their passing out parade. Now, the new Gurkhas prepare to join their units across the British Army.
