The Biden administration finds itself in a precarious position as it navigates the widespread crisis in the Middle East. The conflict, sparked by a raid by Hamas on Israel, led to a forceful response from Tel Aviv in the Gaza Strip. Now, the U.S. faces the daunting task of managing this crisis. On the one hand, they have a historical allegiance to Israel and, on the other, a pressing need to prevent a catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
The push for a temporary ceasefire emerged as a crucial strategy.

In one of the most significant airpower developments in recent years, the U.S. Air Force’s new B-21 Raider — the world’s second stealth bomber, at least that we know about — has taken to the air. A video from outside the Air Force’s storied Plant 42 in Palmdale, California, early this morning, showed the B-21, with its landing gear down, accompanied by an F-16 chase plane.

As automotive technology progresses forward, hints of the past seem less and less common in new cars. Names don’t mean what they used to, curb weights are quite high, and some styling is a far cry from each company’s Greatest Hits that date back a decade or three. But is there still at least a little nostalgia to be found? Audi’s numerical designations have changed and expanded over the years, but it still makes room for fun in its entry-level S model, the 2023 Audi S3. Just like it did with the B5-generation S4 back in 1999.
Prime Minister Netanyahu affirmed that Israel does not intend to occupy Gaza after the conflict ends but will take measures to prevent threats from the strip of land.
“We are not trying to relocate the Gaza population. What we are trying to do is persuade the civilians in the northern Gaza Strip, where fighting is taking place, to move 1.5-6 km south, where We established a safe zone,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on November 10 in an interview with Fox News. “We want to see a field hospital set up there. We encourage and facilitate humanitarian aid to go there.

The Honda Prelude Concept was one of the standouts surprises of last month’s Japan Mobility Show. And while it certainly looked as svelte and charming as you’d hope a new Prelude would, key details—from the precise nature of the coupe’s hybrid drivetrain, to where Honda even intends to sell it—still remain mysteries. It’s too soon to talk hard numbers of course, but fresh comments from Honda Chief Engineer Tomoyuki Yamagami have provided us with a solid idea of what to look forward to when the Prelude is ultimately resurrected later this decade.

The Israel Defense Forces say troops from its 7th Armored Brigade stormed a Hamas outpost and training camp in the northern Gaza Strip last day, seizing dozens of weapons and killing about 30 terrorists.
The IDF says troops captured assault rifles, missiles, mortars, drones, maps, communications equipment and other technological equipment from the site.
Troops also raided the offices of Muhammad Sinwar, brother of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, and captured weapons and other materials.
Of my hobbies, and things that make me reassemble my fractured mind after a long week of work, my most dangerous are those when I venture off into the woods. Whether it’s driving my Can-Am X3 project, taking a motorcycle deep into the unknown, or hunting the backwoods for non-existent elk—they’re clearly government psyops to fund public land—all of them carry risks thanks to the lack of cell service and my penchant for hurting myself. But that’s why I carry either Garmin’s killer inReach Mini 2 or Zoleo’s satellite communicators.

This week, the Joseph R. Biden administration met with Chinese representatives for an initial discussion on the future of strategic stability. The administration hopes that this meeting will serve as a first step in a larger dialogue on limiting nuclear arsenals. After years of struggle to engage China on nuclear issues, hopes now run higher that the United States and China might head off their escalating race to modernize and expand their nuclear forces. American interest in arms control dialogue is understandable.

In 2014, we got the trailer for the now defunct miniseries The Mighty Eighth. Following up Band of Brothers and The Pacific, it promised to show America’s bombing campaign in Europe through the lens of a combat photographer. The trailer was promising, but the show never came to fruition. Now, in 2023, we have our first look at Masters of the Air from Apple TV+ and it puts the 2014 trailer to shame.
Masters of the Air focuses on the Eighth Air Force’s 100th Bomb Group.

Houthis, the Shiite Muslim armed group from Yemen, have recently made headlines by launching attacks on Israel, a country located about 2,000 km away. This unexpected move has added a new layer of complexity to the already tense situation in the region, especially as Israel deals with its ongoing campaign against Hamas.
The Pentagon reported on October 19 that its destroyer in the Red Sea intercepted three missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Yemen aimed at Israel.
We’ve all seen it. A grateful and sincere civilian approaches a service member in uniform out at a restaurant or in the airport and says those five words that make troops and veterans feel awkward: Thank you for your service. According a survey produced by USAA and conducted by Endeavor Analytics and YouGov half of all service members and veterans feel uncomfortable or awkward when thanked for their service.
Looking at younger military/veterans aged 18-29, nearly 70% reported feeling uncomfortable or awkward when thanked.

The secret to Joe’s success? He made the Union men cut their hair, bathe twice a week and change their underwear every seven days.
For the Union Army of the Potomac and its commander, Maj. Gen. Ambrose E. Burnside, the early winter of 1862-63 proved extremely taxing. First, they suffered through the disastrous Battle of Fredericksburg, fought on Dec. 13. After the army retired back across the Rappahannock River, regimental musters revealed a staggering loss of 12,653 casualties. Nothing had been gained. It had all been for naught.

There’s nothing like driving a slow car fast. You feel like you’re extracting every ounce of performance from it, which usually isn’t possible with today’s outrageously powerful machines. And while it’s maybe easiest to do this with a rental car or your uncle’s Miata, I don’t think anything can match the thrill of a wooden buggy with a jet engine. Gotta getcha one of those.
Such a thing exists in the form of the Thunder Buggy. It was built by a crew out of Millersburg, Ohio, who runs the contraption nearly every time it gets the chance.
The adoption of open radio access network (O-RAN) capabilities will be critical for the Defense Department and industry as they move forward with 5G and other advanced communication technologies, experts say.
In recent years, the Pentagon has awarded contracts and rolled out test beds for 5G and other next-generation capabilities. CIO John Sherman has said he’s particularly interested in scaling these efforts to include O-RAN technology pilots at additional installations.
O-RAN enables open interfaces, interoperable components and multi-vendor solutions for wireless networks.
