A "Golden Dome" to protect America and its interests abroad from aerial threats was proposed by President Trump in January.
In May, he selected a plan and proclaimed that it would cost $175 billion and be fully operational in just three years.
The proposed missile defense system is the most ambitious program in recent memory. It will pull from current systems like Aegis and THAAD, but will also require new technology we currently don’t possess…at least not publicly.
Will this revolutionary Golden Dome protect us with space-based interceptors and laser weapons, or will it be another expensive boondoggle that starts an arms race with China and others?
