The H-6 Bomber in One Word: New. That is not a typo, and it is not a joke about relative ages.

The H-6 descends from the Tupolev Tu-16, which first flew in April 1952. But China stopped building H-6s in the early 1990s, when the design was plainly obsolete, and then restarted the production line around 2006. The bulk of the modern force, the K and N models that make up China’s front-line bomber strength, was built after that restart. The outline is seventy years old.

Russia Struck a Corn Ship Off Odesa With 3 Cruise Missiles, Killing 10: Russia struck a civilian cargo ship carrying corn off Ukraine’s Odesa coast with three cruise missiles, killing 10 people, Ukrainian officials said on July 20. The death toll was the highest from a recent series of attacks on Black Sea shipping, according to a Reuters report from Odesa.

The Guinea-Bissau-flagged vessel had a 17-member crew from India and Syria. Ukraine’s navy said the missiles caused a fire while the ship was carrying corn near the southern port city.
