The British Army has announced that over 350 personnel from the Queen’s Royal Hussars have completed Exercise Senne Hussar at Sennelager, Germany, which focused on testing new means of integrating surveillance and strike drones into armoured operations. The U.S. Army has continued to rapidly expand its deployments of HIMARS rocket artillery systems in the Western Pacific region, reflecting broader trends towards the prioritisation of highly in demand equipment for delivery to units in the region. The 25th Infantry Division has played a leading role in this military buildup, and under Major General James Bartholomees, the it is executing a “see, sense, and strike at distance” approach linking sensors to shooters across vast areas. This is intended to provide U.S.
The Japan Ground Self-Defence Force is reallocating more than 280 billion yen ($1.76 billion) towards the procurement of unmanned aircraft capable of operating in aerial strike and reconnaissance roles, while accelerating plans to phase its AH-64 Apache attack helicopters out of service. This reflects part of an effort to transition the ground forces from reliance on attack helicopters for aerial firepower, in particular the U.S.-supplied AH-1S and AH-64D, towards a greater reliance unmanned aircraft, which are significantly less costly to train personnel on and to sustain.
The Pentagon and Federal Aviation Administration inked an agreement over the use of domestic counter-drone technology, the agencies said in a joint statement Friday, following back-to-back airspace incidents earlier this year and recent laser safety testing.
In March, government officials met at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico to test the Army Multi-Purpose High Energy Laser, an evaluation aimed at quelling FAA concerns about the system’s safety and whether it posed a danger to aircraft.
DefenseScoop exclusively reported details of the test last month.
Two enlisted soldiers took top honors in this year’s Best Ranger Competition, a grueling three-day event held at Fort Benning, Georgia. They are the most junior enlisted team to win the competition in nearly 40 years.
Spc. Caleb Godbold and Sgt. Drew Schorsch, both assigned to the 75th Ranger Regiment, beat 60 other teams from across the Army to win the competition.
Godbold is the first specialist to win the event since 2023, a Fort Benning spokesperson said. Prior to that, specialists earned top spots in the competition in 2006, 1996, and 1988.
Several dozen Reaper drones are flying “every minute of every day” around the globe and hit half a million flight hours each year, according to its manufacturer, General Atomics. The MQ-9 Reaper, a staple for the U.S. since the turn of the 21st century, has remained a go-to asset for the military, even as recently as the war with Iran.
But over the last few years, the U.S. has lost at least 35 Reaper drones — at least 16 were downed over Iran, 7 were shot by the Houthis in Yemen in Spring 2025, and 12 from other aircraft accidents recorded by the Air Force.

Time to catch up with something that, sadly, was lost in the twin storms of the recovery of the pilot and WSO shot down by Iran, and the trip to the moon and back by the crew of Artemis II.
For navalists and those concerned with America’s navy and maritime industry, this is some of the best news we have heard in decades.
The first to break the news on April 2nd was TradeWinds News’ Eric Priante Martin.
A budget proposal by US President Donald Trump will contain what is described as the largest government ship order package since World War II.
The U.S. military has announced it will impose a blockade on all ships entering and leaving Iranian ports. The move comes after President Donald Trump accused Iran of breaking its promise to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
The blockade was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, according to U.S. Central Command, or CENTCOM.
“The blockade will be enforced impartially against vessels of all nations entering or departing Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports on the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman,” Central Command announced in a Sunday news release.
The US Army’s 1st Cavalry Division has recently conducted a live-fire counter-drone exercise at Fort Hood, Texas.
