The US government has progressed the Czech Republic’s plan to acquire surplus Bell H-1 helicopters, approving the refurbishment and modernisation of mothballed airframes now stored at ‘the boneyard’ at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (AFB) facility in Arizona.
On 3 May, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Technologies were awarded the Javelin Joint Venture, a contract to supply the Javelin Missile System to the US Army for the next three years.
According to Doug Bush, the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology, the Army and its industry partners are working to reduce the production lead time for these systems. “This contract award further illustrates the urgency the US government is applying to the acquisition of systems and replenishing munitions stockpiles.
Norway declared in a recent statement that it intends to boost its defence spending to at least 2% of its gross domestic product (GDP) by 2026.
The country will outline the steps it will take to achieve this goal at the upcoming NATO Summit in Vilnius this June.

Ukraine on Wednesday combined two of its most effective weapons – U.S.-donated M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, or HIMARS and its own top-notch information warfare operation – to taunt Russian troops.
In a high-octane video tweeted out by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, a masked soldier calling himself Capt. HIMARS mocks Russia’s repeated claims that it has destroyed many HIMARS.

New images released by the U.S. Air Force provide what appears to be our best look yet at a live example of the service’s 30,000-pound class GBU-57/B Massive Ordnance Penetrator bunker buster, or MOP.
The MOP is the most powerful and deeply burrowing non-nuclear bunker buster on earth and is critical to taking out highly fortified targets buried under literal mountains, like those found in Iran, Russia, China, and North Korea. The weapon is guided and can impact the surface above its target with a high degree of accuracy.
Scenarios examined include Australia’s involvement in a US-China war over Taiwan.
Australian media reported that the Australian military has conducted “top-secret war game exercises” involving scenarios such as China setting up a military base in a South Pacific nation while examining its defense posture.
The exercises, outlined in a classified version of the Australian government’s defense strategy review, found that the country’s military would have difficulty responding to certain plausible and specific scenarios, according to the Sydney Morning Herald and Channel 9 News.
