The latest U.S. security assistance tranche for Ukraine, valued at $1.2 billion, includes funding for commercial satellite imagery services as well as a slew of air-defense capabilities.
The package was announced by the Pentagon on Tuesday. The list of capabilities put out by the Department of Defense did not specify which company or companies would provide the satellite imagery services, or how much of the funding would be allotted for that. DefenseScoop has reached out to Pentagon officials to try to get that information.

Saab AB has unveiled a training system that can simulate various naval operations, including littoral warfare and amphibious assault missions.
The system, Maritime Live Training (MLT), was unveiled at the IMDEX 2023 exhibition in Singapore, held from 3 to 5 May at the Changi Exhibition Centre.
The MLT is similar to the Force on Force Training Systems–Next (FoFTS-Next), the contract for which was secured with the US Marine Corps in 2021.
The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has started to deliver ‘Project Vulcan’: a task set to develop and sustain a ground manoeuvre synthetic trainer system (GMST). This platform will deliver simulated training for the latest land-based platforms, such as the Boxer armoured vehicles and Challenger 3 main battle tanks.
The project will include high fidelity driver trainers and cabins for turret and armament variants backed up by a full digital training management system.

The first of 56 Airbus C295 military transports on order by the Indian Air Force (IAF) has successfully completed its maiden flight.
According to Airbus, the aircraft conducted a successful take-off on 5 May from Seville, Spain, at 1145 h local time. It landed at 1445 h local time, following a three-hour flight.
