Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari says that the armed forces are planning to buy 500 fighter planes. It will take time to get to the 42 squadrons that have been approved, so the immediate goal is to stop the reduction in strength. By 2025, the IAF plans to get rid of the last three MIG-21 squadrons.
Soon, a long-delayed process to buy 114 multi-role fighter jets (MRFA) will begin. This, along with three different programs to build fighter jets in India, will lead to a process of buying 500 fighter planes for the military.

French company Dassault Aviation is gaining momentum to win the Indian Navy contract for 26 Rafale-M fighters to operate from the deck of the new aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. Various outlets have reported that the Indian Navy has formally notified the Indian Ministry of Defense that the Rafale meets more requirements than the only competitor in the running, Boeing’s F/A-18 Super Hornet.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said his country would be “the first country to provide Ukraine with longer-range weapons” in a speech at the Munich Security Conference. 
Sunak said there must be “a military strategy for Ukraine to gain a decisive advantage on the battlefield to win the war, and a political strategy to win the peace.”

“To win the war, Ukraine needs more artillery, armored vehicles, and air defense,” Sunak said. “So now is the time to double down on our military support.

After a 150-car train carrying 20 cars of toxic chemicals derailed outside the village of East Palestine, Ohio, both Ohio and West Virginia activated units from their National Guard to assist in evacuating residents and testing the area for chemical contamination. 
The Norfolk Southern train derailed on Feb. 3. Reports suggest faulty brakes caused the crash.

According to a London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) report, Beijing has ramped up production of its domestically-made fifth-generation fighter, and the inventory of the J-20A will surpass that of the Air Force’s F-22 from the United States.

While the People’s Liberation Army (PLAN) Navy continues to challenge the United States, the United States Navy plans to test its new hypersonic missile from the stealth destroyer USS Zumwalt in December 2025.
The development was recently announced at the annual Combat Systems Symposium held by the American Society of Naval Engineers by Capt. Tyson Young, executive program officer for the Zumwalt Integrated Combat System.
Young is working on the technological and development adjustments necessary to install the hypersonic system on the Zumwalt.
