After years of obstruction, the United States Congress has finally approved the Air Force’s plan to retire the A-10 Thunderbolt. This is a wise decision, as the A-10 no longer meets the geostrategic needs of the United States. However, this venerable aircraft should not be thrown away out of hand; in the hands of international partners, it can continue to advance American interests.
The US government created the A-10 in the 1970s to provide close air support for US ground troops.

As Ukraine’s counteroffensive ramps up after days of intense fighting, Russian President Vladimir Putin finally weighed in.
“We can safely state that the offensive has begun. We know this from the fact that the Ukrainian Army tapped its strategic reserves. This is my first point,” Putin said in response to a reporter’s question Friday, according to the Russian Defense Ministry Telegram (MoD) channel. “Second, the Ukrainian troops failed to achieve their goals in all combat sectors, which is clear as day.
German tanks often had animal names during World War II, such as the Tiger and Leopard tanks. The Panther tank, though less famous than the Tiger, was one of the most formidable tanks of the war. In 1944, the Panther tank posed a significant threat to the Allied forces, particularly the Sherman tanks on the Western Front.
However, the T-34/85 tank on the Eastern Front proved to be the Panther tank’s deadliest enemy.
Tankettes were never employed massively, but they were influential and led to the success of the armored car and modern troop carriers like the M2 Bradley.
