The Chinese coastal defence network deployed under the People’s Liberation Army Navy’s Eastern Theatre Command has been put through a series of combat exercises, which were held in unfamiliar terrain to test and improve battlefield adaptability during high tempo operations. Wright-Patterson Air Force Base—affectionately known as “Wright-Patt”—is located just outside of Dayton, Ohio, home of America’s largest unacknowledged concentration of dive bars and greasy spoons. If you ask the locals or the airmen stationed there, they will tell you about the Air Force Museum, the Oregon District, and maybe even the Dayton Dragons baseball team.
But if you get a couple of beers in them or earn their trust by shouting “O-H,” the locals may even tell you about all the alien bodies, ghosts, and secret tunnels the Air Force hides there.
The Marine Corps is investigating reports that one of its artillery shells fired in yesterday’s celebrations at Camp Pendleton prematurely detonated over Interstate 5, sending shrapnel down onto the freeway and highway patrol vehicles.
The New York Times first reported on the incident, citing a California Highway Patrol report. Two officers reported that a two-inch piece of shrapnel left a dent in the patrol car.
Breast cancer didn’t stand a chance against the fighting spirit of these two military-connected women. Though their diagnosis and treatment differed, their journeys of courage began with early detection and ended with defeat.

On October 19 the first images were released showing a Chinese intercontinental range heavyweight stealth drone in flight, representing a major landmark in efforts to expand the reach of the People’s Liberation Army across the Atlantic and potentially into the Arctic. Satellite footage from an Air Force test base near Malan, Xinjiang province, provided a first look at the aircraft in mid-June, with its size being comparable to that of the American B-2 strategic bomber.
At the 7th China Helicopter Exposition in Tianjin China’s aviation sector has unveiled a model of the world’s largest cargo drone, the Ibis Shadow 60, which was developed based on the design of the currently operational Y-9 military transport aircraft. The new aircraft has a takeoff weight of over 60 tons, and has the potential to revolutionise the autonomisation of logistics by allowing semi-autonomous, and eventually fully self-piloted aircraft, to deliver large volumes of supplies across long distances.
