If you spend any time looking at a map of the Pacific theatre, you’ll notice that there is a lot of space, a lot of water, and not a lot of land.
This is a problem when the survival of your military depends largely on its ability to resupply forward areas, and in the Pacific those can be remote and tough to reach. Planners know this is a problem, so in the past few years work on a seaplane has taken place, but nothing has panned out.
Luckily, Japan has a proven and capable seaplane known as the US-2, and we could easily buy it. In this episode, we break down what makes the US-2 special, why the US needs it, what we’ve tried to build, and even why this may not be the best idea despite how awesome the US-2 is.
