HMS Stirling Castle made its debut as a Royal Navy warship, leaving Merseyside for sea trials and training following a handover from the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.
The specialist vessel will be the first mine countermeasures mothership in the fleet to provide a floating base for autonomous technology.
