BFBS Forces News was given rare access to the Infantry Battle School in Brecon, Wales – the only place in the British Army where soldiers can qualify as Close Quarter Battle Instructors (CQBI).
On one of the Army’s toughest courses, with a 40% failure rate, soldiers refine the tactics needed to fight in buildings, trenches, tunnels and woodland. Despite drones causing the majority of casualties on today’s battlefield, instructors argue that technology cannot replace the soldier who must physically clear a room, trench or piece of ground.
