The Light Armored Vehicle has served the Marine Corps for over 40 years and is finally going to be able to retire…maybe.
The Marines are pushing ahead on their Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle Program. The ARV won’t just fall right into Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalions, though; they’re going to be a component of a much broader new idea called Mobile Reconnaissance Battalions that will incorporate small boats, lighter vehicles, and drones.
We break down what the ARV is starting to look like, who is building the prototypes, and if this program is at risk of being cut altogether.
