The war in Ukraine is entering another troubling stage of escalation. In recent weeks, the Russians have moved into one of the four main Ukrainian “Fortress Cities” in the contested eastern part of the country.

Meanwhile, Ukraine has launched a seemingly relentless wave of drone attacks on critical infrastructure, transportation, and energy nodes throughout the Russian Federation.

The new report potentially reveals the thinking behind Washington’s decision last week to pause strikes amid reports that the White House was concerned about the diminishing stockpile of valuable weapons.

In a somewhat unusual episode, Ukraine briefly came under threat of a ballistic missile attack from Iran. Following an attack on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian, the Foreign Ministry of Iran threatened to respond militarily.
