The U.S. Military Needs Low-Cost Innovation—Not Big-Ticket Boondoggles
It is ironic that, despite two decades of U.S.

Iran has asked Russia for a new air defense system, the S-400, which could prove disastrous for Israel. Russia has yet to confirm whether it will supply the S-400s publicly. In the case of supply, Iran will only need two years for the system to be operational.
Russia developed the S-400 to be a portable surface-to-air missile system. Fighter jets, unmanned aerial vehicles, and cruise missiles. It can also protect against terminal ballistic missiles, as the Center for Strategic and International Studies reported.

Former Army soldier Ethan Melzer was sentenced to more than four decades in prison for an attempted plot to ambush and kill his comrades in a “jihadi attack” while deployed abroad.
Melzer pleaded guilty in June 2022 to charges of attempted murder of U.S. Army soldiers, illegally sharing national security information and providing and attempting to provide terrorists with material support.

All US military branches have struggled to meet recruiting targets in recent years, but the pilot shortage is seriously showing.
In September, the United States Air Force’s director of training and operational readiness, Major General Albert Miller, reported that the service was short 1,900 pilots and that the situation was not likely to improve.
To address this problem, the Air Force has tried to reinstate retired pilots to fill staffing shortages while also offering bonuses to its airmen, which currently run as high as $35,000 per year, depending on their contract length.

Russian Casualties in Ukraine: Update
In recent days, Russian forces have made some progress in and around Bakhmut, but at the cost of heavy casualties. In the past 48 hours, the Russian military and the private military company Wagner Group have lost nearly 1,400 soldiers killed or wounded in combat.

The British Navy has intercepted smugglers in the Gulf of Oman and recovered anti-tank weaponry and ballistic missile components. The operation took place at the end of February but was not announced until March 2.
Royal Marines from 42 Commando from HMS Lancaster intercepted the speedboat after a US drone first detected suspicious activity.
The smugglers tried to elude a Wildcat helicopter from Naval Air Squadron 815 and ignored all radio calls asking them to stop, steering their craft into Iranian territorial waters. Before they could do so, the British frigate intercepted them.

“Our main task is to learn as soon as possible so that we can come back and continue fighting,” Myckhailo, a 45-year-old soldier who has been a soldier for 27 years, told the first journalists who had access to the training sessions on Wednesday.
