The Chinese military is getting bolder in its provocations against the U.S. Less than a week after a Chinese fighter jet came dangerously close to an American spy plane over the South China Sea, the Pentagon reported that on Saturday, a Chinese warship had “an unsafe maritime interaction” with the American destroyer USS Chung-Hoon and Canadian frigate HMCS Montreal during a joint U.S.-Canadian transit of the Taiwan Strait.

The commander of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Stout was fired on June 2 for a “loss of confidence,” according to a Monday statement from the Navy. 
Commander Jeffrey L. Applebaugh was fired by Capt. Blair Guy, Commodore of the Norfolk-based Destroyer Squadron 28, as commander of the USS Stout for “loss of confidence in his ability to command.”
Applebaugh took command of the ship in October 2022.

The Italian Army’s plans for its artillery corps were presented on the second day of Defence iQ’s Future Artillery conference held in Munich from 30 May to 1 June.
The branch has nine tube and two deep fires artillery regiments and plans to stand up two more regiments.

Audiologist
Take audiology, for example.

Operation Praying Mantis was a defining moment in modern American military history, but it’s also nearly forgotten. It was the largest of five American surface engagements since WWII and it was the Navy’s first exchange of anti-ship missiles by ships.
It was a sunny morning on April 18, 1988, when the USS Samuel B. Roberts, a Navy frigate, was patrolling the Persian Gulf waters near the coast of Iran. Suddenly, the ship struck a mine while on patrol. This caused significant damage and ten sailors were injured. The explosion also nearly sunk the vessel.

Background
Williams was born near the small town of Boerne, Texas, on October 3, 1981. After completing high school, he attended Angelo State University, where he earned a degree in criminal justice. His initial ambition was to work as a detective for the FBI. However, after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, he became interested in military service. He joined the Army in 2005, attending Basic Airborne Training at Fort Benning, Georgia.

European defence prime Thales will provide Canadian forces with software development and integration following the award by the Canadian Department of National Defence of the Directorate Land Command Systems Program Management Software Engineering Facility (DSEF) software systems engineering contract.
According to a 1 June release by Thales, the initial term of the contract is for five years through to April 2028 and includes five additional one-year options allowing Canada to extend it. The contract is valued at up to C$136m.
