Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni attended a ceremony on 18 April to mark the completion of the first helicopter overhaul at a new facility in the country.
Ugandan television showed Museveni inspecting the helicopter maintenance, refurbishment, and overhaul (MRO) facility at Nakasongola Air Base and watching a Mi-24P taking off.

Armasuisse, the Swiss Federal Office for Defence Procurement, has awarded a contract to General Dynamics European Land Systems-Mowag (GDELS-Mowag) for 16 more Mörser 16 120 mm mortar systems, the company and the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) announced on 12 April. RUAG has been subcontracted to deliver its Cobra mortar for installation in the GDELS Piranha 8×8 carrier platform.

The US Congress will have to markedly increase unconstrained shipbuilding funding if it wants the US Navy (USN) to reach the stated 355-ship force by the middle of this century, according to the USN Report to Congress on the Annual Long-Range Plan for Construction of Naval Vessels for Fiscal Year 2024, released on 18 April.
As noted by a US Congressional Research Service (CRS) report released on 13 April, the 355-ship goal was made US policy in December 2017.

The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced this maiden launch of the IRIS-T missile from the KF-21 in a video on 7 April. The launch represents the expansion of the KF-21’s armaments testing programme.

The UK Royal Navy’s (RN’s) eighth Type 23 Duke-class frigate, HMS Montrose (F 236), has officially retired after 29 years of active service.
The ship was formally decommissioned during a ceremony held at HM Naval Base, Portsmouth, on 17 April.
Montrose was laid down in November 1989, launched on 31 July 1992, and commissioned into service in June 1994.
