As Ukraine gears up for a looming counteroffensive, a wave of suspected drone attacks hit fuel supply depots in Russia Thursday, local authorities and Russian media outlets claim.
Local government leaders reported fires at the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Products plant in Rostov Oblast blamed on a drone attack and the Ilsky refinery in Krasnodar Oblast, which the Russian SHOT media outlet claims was the result of a massive drone attack.

In the early hours of May 3, two purportedly Ukrainian drones struck the dome of the Kremlin’s Senate building which overlooks the Red Square. According to the Kremlin’s Spassky Tower which can be seen in the foreground of emerging social media videos of the attacks, the first drone struck at 2:27 a.m. with the second hitting at 2:43 a.m. While one drone appears to be destroyed in a cloud of smoke, the second one can be seen bursting into flames above the dome.

This week, China unveiled a new military recruitment policy, which includes an update to its conscription law. The updates took effect Monday after the State Council and Central Military Commission approved the changes.
The goal of the updates is to create a more high-tech and cyberwarfare-capable military that includes highly skilled personnel. The new guidelines specifically state that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) should “focus on preparation for war,” and notes that the army needs more soldiers that are savvy with high-tech weaponry.
President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has denied that his country launched a drone attack on the Kremlin, which Russia claims was an assault on the life of President Vladimir Putin.
Zelensky, who is currently on a journey to Finland, told reporters late Wednesday night in Helsinki, “We are not attacking Putin or Moscow; we are defending our villages on our own territory.” We don’t have enough armaments to accomplish that… This is why we did not assault Putin; we will leave that to the (international) court.
