Defense sources have reported that her Majesty’s Treasury (Britain’s Treasury) has announced that no new funding will be earmarked for defense, despite acknowledging the urgent need to rearm following Russia’s war in Ukraine.
A UK defense policy “update,” which was supposed to inform the spending plans of Chancellor Jeremy Hunt and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, may be postponed until after the March budget, according to the sources, because the first draught did not adequately reflect the changed security environment in Europe, where a ground war is raging.
