There’s an old military adage: the enemy gets a vote. No matter how well-planned an operation, or how well-designed a weapon, something can always go wrong. The British Army’s Ground Manoeuvre Synthetic Trainer (GMST) programme for the provision of simulators for its new Boxer and Challenger 3 platforms is more ambitious than the requirement suggested, with several other new or existing platforms in its sight.

On Monday, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that Germany will be stationing 4,000 troops in fellow NATO member state Lithuania in an effort to secure the alliance’s eastern flank. The skies over American cities will be filled with Air Force tanker aircraft on Tuesday to mark the 100th anniversary of the first in-flight aerial refueling in U.S. military history.
