The United States and Iran spent the past three days shooting at each other around the Strait of Hormuz, and the ceasefire they signed barely a week ago looks like it is falling apart. Iran hit a cargo ship in the strait on Thursday, the US struck Iranian military sites on Friday, and early Saturday, Iranian drones hit Bahrain, home to the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet. President Donald Trump called Iran’s attack a foolish violation of the agreement, and Iranian hardliners are promising more. It has the shape of a slide back toward open war.
Ukraine reached roughly 900 kilometers into Russian territory overnight and struck one of the most important weapons plants in the country, the factory that builds the launchers for the same Iskander missiles Russia fires at Ukrainian cities. The weapon that did it was not American or European. It was the FP-5 Flamingo, a long-range cruise missile that Ukraine designed and now builds itself.

One of the largest memorials for Soviet soldiers isn’t in Russia—or on former Soviet ground. It’s in Berlin, Germany, where more than 80,000 Soviet soldiers died during the Battle of Berlin in 1945. Rarely given out, the Presidential Unit Citation’s award history runs through some of the most daring and complex operations in U.
Seoul is moving forward with plans to deploy nuclear-powered attack submarines, marking a stark shift in defense posture for one of Asia’s leading submarine builders. The class, which will be the first of its kind for South Korea, is slated to enter service sometime during the end of the next decade.
American President Donald Trump and the United States Department of Defense appear poised to approve the sale of fighter jet engines to Turkey, a sale that could run into the hundreds of millions of dollars. According to at least one report, the sale could total more than $700 million.
While the United States routinely sells military kit to close allies around the globe, this sale to Ankara is more unusual.
