For some people, the new year brings a resolution to refrain from drinking — if only for a month. In 2013, a British charity launched the “Dry January” campaign to raise awareness of the health and lifestyle benefits of giving up drinking temporarily. Over 200,000 people signed up to participate in the challenge in 2024. Given that January has come to an end, it is perhaps fitting to offer a historical account about war and mixology. The United States Air Force Academy in Colorado has removed the “Diversity and Inclusion Studies” minor from its official list of “majors and minors.”
The minor was available on the website as late as Jan. 9, but as of Jan. 24 is no longer being offered.

The chief of naval operations, Adm. Lisa Franchetti, in her Navigation Plan released late last year outlined that the MOC will be the “center” to how the Navy fights in a distributed manner.

The Navy is preparing to create a new unit focused on small unmanned surface vessels amid a push by the chief of naval operations to bring more robotic and autonomous systems into the fleet.
Unmanned Surface Vessel Squadron 7 is slated to be established in May in San Diego, California, according to service officials.
The organization will be “primarily tasked with operating and maintaining” a variety of small USVs, a Navy official told DefenseScoop.
That includes Global Autonomous Reconnaissance Craft and “future RAS systems,” the official said.
