A site used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to launch long-range single use drones against Russian targets has been destroyed during a striking launched using Iskander-M ballistic missile systems. Up to 65 Lyuty class drones were destroyed in the attack, as well as four trucks and five launchers. Approximately 30 Ukrainian casualties resulted from the strike, including multiple drone warfare specialists. Lyuty drones have an estimated range of 1,000 kilometres and can carry explosive payloads weighing up to 75 kilograms. The site was located near the village of Martovoein northeastern Ukraine.

On Oct. 14, President Donald Trump announced on social media that the United States had once more attacked an alleged drug smuggling small boat in international waters off the coast of Venezuela. This is the latest strike in what the Trump administration has, in a notification to Congress, designated a “non-international armed conflict” against Tren de Aragua, a narco-group based in Venezuela. In other words, the administration has invoked war powers to justify the targeting of these vessels and, ostensibly, other assets of the organization in the future — perhaps even inside Venezuela.
On October 15 the U.S. Air Force deployed three B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers for operations off the coast of Venezuela, marking the latest in multiple escalatory steps taken by Washington to increase military pressure on its southern neighbour. The B-52H is one of two nuclear capable bomber types fielded by the United States, and is among the most heavily armed combat aircraft in the world with the ability to delivery up to 20 cruise missiles each per sortie. The bombers took off from Barksdale Air Force Base, and spent around two hours in the air around Venezuela.
