There have long been reports of US special forces top secret missions inside Africa. For decades their actions have gone largely unreported but enough details have now been declassified for us to start to build a better picture. These missions have become a major part of American culture with movies like Black Hawk Down and 13 hours as well as missions in the game Call of Duty. This video is going to be in the iceberg format – the way that works is in the beginning we’ll cover the most common surface level stories and then as we go along we’ll get into increasingly more obscure and unknown American Special Forces missions in Africa.
First I want to set the scene that will give us the context for these 7 top secret missions. In 2019, an investigative report from the Mail & Guardian revealed that US operators were on active deployments in 22 separate African nations as seen here depicted on this map. The purpose of these deployments ranged from your casual normie joint training to your hardcore direct action combat. The investigation revealed Over 14% of special forces soldiers across all branches of the US military, were deployed to Africa in 2019, which is the most of any region of the world besides the Middle East.
