Tensions continue to escalate between Taiwan and China. Taiwan scrambled fighter jets early Thursday morning to warn away 39 Chinese aircraft that had entered its southeastern air defence zone. Taiwan also activated its navy and land-based missile systems against the Chinese “harassment.” China claims Taiwan as its own and has stepped up pressure in recent years on the self-governed island.
