The USS Gerald R. Ford Has Sailed All Over the World And Needs Some Repairs Done
The Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) is the most technologically advanced supercarrier ever put into service in the United States Navy. It was supposed to be the forerunner of the new Ford-class carriers and usher in a new era of Naval dominance.
In its most recent deployment, Ford is indeed breaking some records, though perhaps not the ones that the Navy wants. With her deployment now exceeding 260 days, Ford has joined the Vietnam-era carriers in terms of deployment time, and she is approaching her breaking point.

Iranian missile & drone strikes hit Prince Sultan Air Base today, damaging several U.S. refueling aircraft.
It’s the second strike on the base, reported WSJ.
Iranian satellite images claim to show 3 x U.S. KC-135 refueling aircraft destroyed or damaged at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.
The Wall Street Journal cited U.S. and Saudi officials confirming the attack, which also reportedly injured several U.S. service members, though none of the injuries were life-threatening.
The Royal Navy’s Aircraft Carriers Can’t Take on America But They are Powerful
In early March 2026, as U.S. and Israeli strike operations against Iran intensified, the British government moved to increase the readiness of its most powerful naval asset: the aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales. The Royal Navy reduced the ship’s notice-to-sail window to just five days, positioning it for a potential rapid deployment to the Middle East if required.
The MBT-70 Tank Was Built to Fight the Soviet Union. It Ended Up a Historical Footnote
Recent reports about Europe’s flagging next-generation fighter programs and the related industrial and political battles taking place show once more how complex multinational defense projects are. The intended platform frequently struggles under the weight of competing national priorities.
Take the Future Combat Air System (FCAS), for example—the joint effort between France, Germany, and Spain to build a next-generation fighter jet.
The YF-23 Stealth Fighter Was Almost Flown By Japan
The YF-22 versus the YF-23 stealth fighter jet fly-off was one for the ages. The airplane that would become the F-22 Raptor almost lost out to another model. The result in this competition has always spurred many defense wags to wonder if the YF-23 should have been picked. It could have been used for technology demonstration, research, and development.

The Iran War Kharg Island Invasion Challenge: Why U.S. Troop Deployments Are Just Political Posturing
The news media are largely pearl-clutching about the results of a possible U.S. incursion in Iran, particularly Kharg Island, as Newsweek proclaimed, “Paratroopers leaping down from Osprey choppers and swarming onto the shores of Kharg Island under a hail of gunfire…could this be the next phase of fighting in the Iran war?”
Kharg Island is where the bulk of Iran’s oil (approximately 90 percent) flows through. So, it is an economic lifeline for the current regime.

A Department of Veterans Affairs official who oversaw the effort to modernize VA health records was indicted this week and is accused of leveraging his position to receive gifts from a group of government contractors that he nicknamed “the Power Group.”
John Windom, 64, a retired Navy officer, was charged with making false statements, concealment of material facts and falsification of a record or document tied to a failure to report more than $15,000 in cash, casino chips and other gifts from contractors.
WTOC TV news (channel 11) in Savannah reported on a media event at Fort Stewart in southeastern Georgia. The event in late February showed new technology utilized by the U. S. Army.
“We also got an up-close look at the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team’s work from cutting-edge, drone demonstrations to live M1 Abrams tank fire,” said the news presenter. (See the video below).

A B-52 Stratofortress Bomber Did the Unthinkable: Lost A Load of Nuclear Weapons
Unsurprisingly, the premise of lost, missing, or stolen weapons of mass destruction—be they chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear—has been the plot line of many a fictional thriller story.
During the Cold War, bestselling novels by authors such as Clive Cussler and Tom Clancy included Vixen 03 by the former and The Sum of All Fears by the latter.
The U.S. Navy’s F/A-18 Super Hornet Is No Stealth Fighter, and Iran Could Take It Down
Aerial combat is always risky. Over the skies of Iran, even though the Americans and Israelis have declared air superiority and even air dominance, there have been instances when Iranian air defenses almost enjoyed a win over U.S. pilots. Take the example of the Air Force F-35 nearly destroyed when it was hit by enemy fire and forced into an emergency landing.

The Defense Department is trying to quickly find vendors who are able to ship pre-made shelters to protect troops in the Middle East as the United States’ war with Iran continues.
The department is looking for information from private contractors who can provide “prefabricated, transportable, hardened shelter systems designed to protect personnel from blast and fragmentation threats,” according to a new federal contract notice posted Monday.

At the request of some of its units, the Army is looking to add “command and control on the move” capabilities to Infantry Squad Vehicles, according to a notice posted Thursday on a government contracting website.
The call for solutions comes as the Army is moving to enhance its networks with initiatives like C2 Fix and Next Gen C2. Service leaders are concerned that static command posts are becoming more vulnerable to drones and other systems that could enable adversaries to locate and strike them on the battlefield. Providing greater mobility is a means of enhancing U.S.

The Department of Veterans Affairs regularly helps veterans become homeowners through its home loans, and as part of the process, an appraiser hired by the VA must inspect each property. However, due to limited availability and high demand, it can take several days for appraisers to be assigned to those jobs, leaving veterans competing with other buyers and potentially losing out due to those delays. That is according to a bipartisan group of senators, who introduced a bill on Thursday evening to help incentivize more appraisers to take jobs with the VA and meet the demand.
In 1876, Americans were introduced to the typewriter and sewing machine, tasted ketchup for the first time, and saw firsthand what a 1,400-horsepower steam engine could do.
All of that occurred at a collection of displays with the long-winded title of “the 1876 International Exhibition of Arts, Manufactures, and Products of Soil and Mine.” Most remember it by a more familiar name: the World’s Fair.

In 1918, the U.S. Supreme Court held that government contractors could be sued for patent infringement even if their products were manufactured specifically for the U.S. government. Franklin D. Roosevelt, then acting secretary of the Navy, wrote an urgent letter to Congress warning that contractors were hesitant to build equipment for the Navy that could expose them to expensive litigation. Congress responded swiftly, amending federal law to shield contractors from patent suits when they were manufacturing products for the government. That statutory immunity, now codified as 28 U.S.C.
It is 2029. General Secretary Xi Jinping has given the order for the People’s Liberation Army to forcibly take Taiwan. Hundreds of Chinese warships begin to cross the Taiwan strait, supported by fighter jets and protected by an umbrella of electronic jamming. 80 kilometers from Taiwan’s coast, the first blow comes from below. Autonomous underwater vehicles lurking on the seabed detonate against the hull of troop transports, scattering formations and forcing destroyers to divert to antisubmarine warfare.

Israeli Sources Confirm Iranian Missile Strikes Have 80 Percent Success Rates as Air Defences Falter
The Israeli paper Haaretz has confirmed that 8 out of 10 Iranian missiles launched against Israeli targets are reaching their targets, following mounting reports and growing quantities of footage pointing to the failures of Israeli and U.S. ballistic missile defences. The report further noted that success rates have continued to improve as air defences have become increasingly strained. Israeli analysts observed that contributing factors have included the systematic exhaustion of the air defence network, and the destruction of U.S.

The Space Force is looking to revise launch plans for a number of upcoming national security missions following a recent issue with a United Launch Alliance rocket that could take months to resolve, according to a senior official.
During a Space Force mission last month, ULA’s Vulcan Centaur rocket experienced a “significant performance anomaly” with one of the vehicle’s four solid rocket motors during lift off, according to the company.
The Navy is setting up a one-stop-shop for medium unmanned surface vessels (MUSVs) that carry swappable, containerized payloads in faster, multi-mission deployments, as it reshapes its model for buying autonomous watercraft that navigate, handle cargo and carry out certain military operations with little to no human input.
