Poland has formally accepted the first two of 32 Leonardo AW149 armed battlefield utility helicopters.
The acceptance ceremony was held on 30 October at the type’s future operating station at Nowy Glinnik Airport, some 70 km southwest of Warsaw, and was attended by the Minister of National Defence, Mariusz Błaszczak.
News of the handover came around 17 months after Błaszczak announced the AW149 procurement in June 2022.

The Spanish Navy (Armada) has received into service its first Airbus Helicopters H135 rotorcraft, the manufacturer announced on 27 October.
Delivery of the first of seven helicopters ordered by the Armada will allow the service to launch crew training ahead of their deployment to sea in 2024.
In Armada service the H135 will replace ageing Hughes MD 500 in the maritime support and training roles.

The US Department of Defense announced on Friday that the government was moving forward with the development of a new version of the B61 nuclear gravity bomb.
The bomb called the B61-13, would have a similar performance to the B61-7 and would replace some of those older gravity bombs, the Pentagon said in its announcement. The performance of the B61-7 is greater than that of the B61-12, the most recent bomb added to the military arsenal.
The Pentagon said the decision to build this weapon was made to reflect the changing security environment in line with the 2022 Nuclear Posture Review.

Israel’s relatively small but highly effective naval force often operates inconspicuously during major Israel Defense Forces (IDF) operations in Gaza. Nevertheless, it significantly enhances the country’s defense capabilities.
Established in 1948, the Israeli Navy (IN) presently operates various surface ships, including corvette-sized vessels, which serve in roles such as air defense, maritime interdiction, missile attack platforms, patrols, and port security. The IN also operates two classes of submarines, and it is widely believed to possess a second-strike nuclear capability.

The latest contracts for the F-35 and F-15EX fighter planes have been a topic of discussion recently, and they come with varying price tags. Baykar
Turkey’s Baykar company says its Bayraktar TB3 armed drone has completed its first flight. TB3 is slated to become the primary uncrewed platform of the Turkish Navy’s ‘drone carrier’ TCG Anadolu, providing both light strike capabilities and persistent surveillance at sea.
The drone took to the sky for its inaugural flight on October 27, according to Baykar. This took place at the Çorlu Flight Training and Test Center, which is located in northwest Turkey.

Bombs and artillery shells continue to rain down on Gaza, in what have been reported as the heaviest bombardments there since the start of the current conflict. At the same time, there have been exchanges of fire between militant fighters and Israeli forces overnight. In a break from previous Israel Defense Forces (IDF) incursions, this time, Israel says that some of its troops and armor have remained in Gaza, as the opening actions of a large-scale ground offensive roll forward.

The US Navy has awarded Lockheed Martin a contract to manufacture six MH-60R Seahawk multi-mission helicopters for the Norwegian government. Designed and built by Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, the MH-60R aircraft will enable Norway to carry out multiple maritime missions, including search and rescue and coastal and offshore patrol.

Subsidiaries PIT-RADWAR and Wojskowe Zakłady Elektroniczne of the Polish Armament Group have signed additional contracts with the Norwegian consortium Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace (KDA) for the construction and delivery of two Naval Missile Units, as well as for the maintenance and production of NSM missiles.

The American company RTX yesterday, on October 26, released an official message, which states that its Raytheon division, together with the Israeli company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, agreed to build a production facility that will manufacture Tamir missiles and its American variant SkyHunter for the Iron Dome system (Iron Dome).
In total, the companies should invest 33 million dollars in creating new production facilities.

The US has announced its intention to create a new variant of the B61 nuclear free-fall bomb, which is the main type of nuclear munitions for the Air Force. And for the bomb, developed in 1963, this will already be the thirteenth version.

The Army Reservist wanted for Wednesday’s mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, was found dead Friday night after an extensive manhunt.
Robert Card’s remains were found after a two-day manhunt at the recycling center where he had previously worked and was fired from. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot.  He was found approximately eight miles southwest of Lewiston.
