ST Engineering has unveiled the latest iteration to its Singapore Assault Rifle – 21st Century (SAR 21).

The U.S. Navy’s newest ship officially entered service this weekend. The USS John L. Canley is an expeditionary sea base, a kind of mobile command and control and dock. It’s also named for Sgt. Maj. John L. Canley, an African-American Marine Corps veteran who earned the Medal of Honor for his actions at the Battle of Hue City in 1968 during the Vietnam War.

Singapore state-affiliated defence company ST Engineering has unveiled the latest variant of its Ultimax 100 5.56 mm gas-operated light machine gun.
The product, known as the Ultimax 100 Mk 9, is on display to the public for the first time at the Singapore Airshow 2024 defence exhibition, taking place at the Changi Exhibition Centre from 20 to 25 February.
A new feature found on the Mk 9 is its dual-feed capability.

India’s Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has approved the procurement of various defence equipment worth INR845.6 billion (USD10.19 billion) for the Indian Armed Forces and the Indian Coast Guard.

Singapore defence prime ST Engineering has launched the latest iteration in its Terrex 8×8 line of infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs).
Known as the Terrex s5, the variant was launched on 18 February, ahead of the Singapore Airshow 2024 exhibition taking place from 20 to 25 February at the Changi Exhibition Centre.

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) scrambled two of its F-16s on 12 February after the service detected an “aircraft of interest”, the country’s Ministry of Defense (MINDEF) has confirmed.
In response to questions from Janes, MINDEF disclosed that two F-16s took off from the Tengah Air Base at about 1449 h local time on 12 February to investigate the aircraft.

Amidst Washington’s push for European support in the Indo-Pacific, has Italy proven overly eager to pivot east? Faced with the choice between directly supporting U.S. efforts to counter Beijing in the region or concentrating resources on emerging threats closer to home, Italy, as one of the most active contributors to U.S.- or NATO-led military initiatives, has opted for the former. Without much debate, Italy has expanded its military presence in the Indo-Pacific, initiating significant collaborations with various regional countries, and deploying naval units to the region.

The 2024 Munich Security Conference was crowded and frenzied, as security details jostled delegates straining to connect with movers and shakers. For the first time in 107 years, something from the USS Jacob Jones is above water. The ship’s bell from the first American destroyer sunk in combat was recovered and later this year will be given back to the U.S. to eventually be put on display at the National Museum of the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C.

Russia acquires 770 improved T-62 and T-90M tanks
It is estimated that 15 T-90M tanks, equivalent to 10% of the Russian army’s total armored vehicles, are manufactured monthly in military facilities.
The GUR reports an increase in the Russian arsenal with 770 tanks, including modernized T-62M and T-90M models.

U.S. armed forces hit five targets in Yemen, taking out weapons used by the Houthi movement CENTCOM announced today. CENTCOM, as it has in past actions, called them “self-defense strikes” meant for protecting ships traveling through the Red Sea. The strikes targeted three mobile missile batteries carrying anti-ship munitions as well as two types of naval drones: an uncrewed underwater vessel and an uncrewed surface vessel.

Russia increases Su-35 production despite microchip ban
Recently, the Deputy General Director of the state conglomerate Rostech, which includes the manufacturer Sukhoi, made bold statements about the increase in production of the Su-35 fighter, asserting an ambitious goal of “doubling” it.

The US may be about to deliver 1,000 bombs to Israel
US officials said the country is about to transfer 1,000 bombs and related supplies to Israel to replenish its arsenal.
