The U.S. Navy has moved its new W93 nuclear warhead and associated Mk7 re-entry body into the Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase, marking the first new American nuclear warhead and re-entry system programme initiated in almost four decades. The U.S. military is no stranger to slang, acronyms, and nicknames. It seems like American troops have a language all their own at times,. Some of their new words are self-explanatory and others are inside jokes, but the language isn’t meant to be understood by everyone, or even acceptable to everyone. There are some words that make no sense at all; we just continue to use these term because everyone seems to know what it means.
And some of them are just not that nice.
Falling into this latter category comes the term, “dependa.

China’s reusable spaceplane the Shenlong has demonstrated a sophisticated sequence of orbital manoeuvres involving the repeated release, pursuit and recapture of a small satellite, providing new evidence of the vehicle’s ability to conduct rendezvous and proximity operations in space. Tracking data indicate that the spacecraft released the same object in June, retrieved it approximately three weeks later, released it again in August and then manoeuvred back towards it for another apparent capture in September.

The Blackbeard was designed as a relatively inexpensive and rapidly producible long-range strike weapon.
Sometimes it’s not what you say that means the most, it’s what you don’t say. Certain words carry a heavy weight when said by the right person at the right time. If it’s forceful and/or dirty enough, it could be burned into your memory. For some soldiers in World War I, one word in particular was used so often that leaving it out was enough to tell them they were in danger.

Putin Is Under More Pressure: Intel Officials Just Declared ‘Russia Could Attack NATO Within Months’

September is Suicide Awareness Month, a time to talk about something that can be incredibly difficult to say out loud. Sometimes, and oftentimes, people are hurting more than we realize.
For military families, connection can be complicated. We move, start over, and we say goodbye on repeat. We make new friends, only to eventually pack our stuff and categorize into moving boxes year after year. We watch our service members leave for training, deployments, schools, missions, and assignments where we learn how to keep life moving when the person we love is separated from us.

The Chinese HQ-20 medium range air defence system has been seen for the first time in frontline service in the People’s Liberation Army, following the system’s unveiling in October 2025. The publication of the system in live-fire exercises has gained particular attention because relatively little was known about the system. China’s state media described the event as demonstrating a multi-layered air and missile defence network, with the HQ-20 displayed alongside the HQ-11, HQ-22A, HQ-9, HQ-19 and HQ-29.

As the headquarters to the U.S. military, the Pentagon is surrounded by billions of dollars worth of surveillance and security technology. These systems provide multiple layers of protection for the building but they also carry a risk of backfiring: any surveillance system that is vulnerable to intruders could potentially provide unauthorized users with details about the activities of the Defense Department (DOD) and its employees.
A Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force has deployed its HQ-9 long-range surface-to-air missile systems from eastern China to the Gobi Desert for a live-fire exercise, demonstrating the ability of a major air defence formation to rapidly relocate hundreds or thousands of kilometres and operate in an unfamiliar environment. Particularly notable were images showing the HQ-9 launchers being repainted from their normal woodland camouflage into a distinctive yellow scheme better suited to the desert environment.
For several months, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been requesting a license from the United States to develop Patriot missile interceptors.

Soldiers at the Army’s primary base in South Korea have no running water and won’t have any through the weekend, service officials said on Friday.
Officials said that a mechanical failure left taps dry across Camp Humphreys, 40 miles south of Seoul, but that fixes would be delayed through the weekend due to a Korean holiday. This weekend marks the three-day Chuseok harvest festival, which extends over Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week.
As a result of the holiday, officials said, U.S. troops, families and contractors on base could be without running water until Monday.
