Twenty-four British and French helicopters took to the skies in an extraordinary “elephant walk” from Wattisham Flying Station in Suffolk — a powerful show of strength and readiness for NATO combat operations.
The formation featured eight Apache, ten Wildcat, two Chinook, and four Gazelle helicopters, taxiing nose-to-tail before lifting off together.
Over the coming weeks, crews will operate from bases across northern England, flying missions from the Scottish Highlands to Salisbury Plain. From deep-strike attacks and air-assault operations to reconnaissance missions, this exercise demonstrates the coordination, capability, and combat readiness of NATO’s helicopter forces.
