Republic Day is celebrated nationwide on January 26th annually. The day is traditionally celebrated with a parade of colour along Delhi’s Kartavya Path. Still, many individuals also took the opportunity to celebrate the significant national holiday by sharing online declarations of patriotism.

The practice of turning disparate information into battlefield insights is an old one. Military cartography dates back centuries, with data collectors and designers collaborating to create now-famous maps of prominent battles; Robert Adams’ visualisation of the Spanish Armada, published in 1590, is one early example.  
Data continues to aid strategic planning and public understanding of conflict. But the sheer amount of data pumping out into cyberspace, ease of access and the imperative to process it in real time is asking new questions of defence planners.

Global aerospace and defence company General Dynamics has registered $3.4bn in net earnings for the full year 2022, a 4.1% increase compared to 2021.
The company’s diluted earnings per share (EPS) was $12.19 in 2022, up 5.5% from 2021.
Revenue for the full year rose 2.4% to $39.4bn against 2021, and the operating margin was 10.7%.

In the fourth quarter, the company reported net earnings of $992m, a 4.2% increase from the same quarter a year ago.
Its EPS was up 5.6% from the same quarter in the previous year to $3.58. Revenue was $10.9bn for the quarter, up 5.

Ukraine is to join the CV90 user club, Janes learnt at Defence iQ’s International Armoured Vehicles (IAV) 2023 conference being held in London on 23–26 January. Ukraine is becoming the latest user of the CV90 infantry fighting vehicle, as a result of the Swedish donation of CV90s to Kyiv.
The CV90 user group currently numbers seven countries: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland.
