Cincinnati Bengals’ tight end Hayden Hurst is not your average NFL player. He was drafted by Major League Baseball’s Pittsburgh Pirates before ever walking onto a college football field. After three seasons with the South Carolina Gamecocks, he entered the NFL Draft. He caught Baltimore Ravens’ quarterback and future unanimous MVP Lamar Jackson’s first-ever touchdown pass, and now he catches touchdowns for future Hall of Famer Joe Burrow in Cincinnati.
Hurst’s unconventional career in football is a gift.

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has awarded contracts to six separate suppliers as part of Project Beroe, which seeks a ground segment software solution for controlling space-based assets.
A total of GBP300,000 (USD360,663) was awarded to UK subsidiaries CGI, Lockheed Martin, Telespazio, and Terma as well as Raytheon Systems and Rheatech, the MoD announced on 2 February.

India has allocated $72.6bn to the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO), a body which oversees the research and development process in the country’s defence sector. Known as an area India invests significantly in, its Union Budget for the Financial Year 2023-24 is a 13.1% increase in defence research & development (R&D) expenditure.
The increase in defence spending will see the South Asian country invest in more military equipment and other capabilities to become self-reliant in critical defense technologies and systems. Russia is the largest exporter of arms to India.

The US Army has awarded a contract, worth up to $487m, to Amentum Services to provide support services for military equipment and systems.
As part of the terms of the contract, the company is required to deliver international modernisation, logistics, and sustainment solutions, as well as provide field engineering services.
The support services are for a broad variety of US Government-donated military equipment and systems located outside of the continental US, including Europe.

Ever since the British Empire withdrew from the Indian subcontinent and left independent Pakistan and independent India to their own rule, the two countries have been in seemingly constant conflict. British India was divided into two areas, predominantly Muslim Pakistan and predominantly Hindu India, with Sikhs and other minorities left in the dark. The fighting began almost immediately.
It’s not really India or Pakistan’s fault. As with most post-colonial violence, blame lies solely on the Europeans.

Marine Corps pilot Robert Klingman got an early start to his military life. He grew up in Depression-Era Oklahoma, one in a series of nine children. Since work was hard to find, Klingman’s parents sent teenage Robert to Fort Sill for the Civilian Military Training Program, so the boys would be clothed and fed by the U.S. government for a summer.
They couldn’t have known they were raising a future naval aviator and recipient of the Navy Cross. They might have suspected, considering how quickly he took to the work.

The US Air Force (USAF) and US Marine Corps (USMC) grounded an undisclosed number of Bell-Boeing MV-22 and CV-22 Ospreys on 3 February, citing hard clutch engagements because of worn input quill assemblies within the Rolls-Royce AE1107C engine gearboxes. Hard clutch engagements occur when the engine’s clutch disengages uncommanded and then rapidly re-engages, sending an impulse through the assembly and causing the aircraft to lurch.
