Missile Strike on Humanitarian Convoy in Zaporizhzhia

According to Ukrainian officials, Friday saw more of the eerily consistent nationwide missile strikes that Russia has been conducting across the country for months. However, there was a noticeable uptick in the number of strikes Russia conducted on Friday with Moscow firing up to 35 S-300 missiles at Zaporizhzhia and the Kharkiv region. The escalated strikes caused additional power outages overnight across the country.

The US Army has announced the award of a requirements contract to AM General for the production of up to 20,682 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV) and up to 9,883 JLTV trailers.
The total contract value is $8.66bn, and the follow-on production contract amounted to $230.8mn states the US Department of Defense.

The U.S. military is using the Defender unmanned underwater vehicle manufactured by VideoRay to search for debris from the Chinese balloon that was shot down off the coast of South Carolina last week, DefenseScoop has confirmed.
The Department of Defense on Thursday released an image of a UUV being prepared for deployment by sailors assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group 2, which is participating in the search effort. On Friday morning, a DOD spokesman confirmed to DefenseScoop that the platform in the photo is the Defender undersea drone.

Saab has announced an increase in net sales to $1.3bn (Skr13.86bn) during the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2022, up 16% compared to $1.14bn (Skr11.94bn) in the year prior. Primarily due to an increase and growth in large and medium-sized orders.
The company said its net income for Q4 totalled $126.12m (Skr1.15bn). In the fiscal year prior, the net income was $76.21m (Skr794m).
Net income for the year was $219.14m (Skr2.28bn), operating cash flow from continuing operations was $248.84m (Skr2.59bn), and free cash flow was $179.58m (Skr1.87bn).

The British Army’s Challenger 3 main battle tank (MBT) programme has completed the critical design review (CDR) ahead of schedule and within budget.
The achievement was announced by the UK Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) procurement arm Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S).
The milestone means the tank’s design has been approved and Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) can start building the prototype vehicles.

In a tweet, RBSL said: “This is a significant achievement made possible as a result of effective and close collaboration between industry, @BritishArmy and @DefenceES.

U.S. Army doctrine stresses the fundamental tasks of shoot, move and communicate. To ensure the lethality of the force, these tasks are expected of every soldier and are applied all the way up to main battle tanks. Delivering accurate and deadly fire is the tank’s purpose and maneuverability is key to its survivability on the battlefield. However, a multi-ton machine riding on tracks over uneven terrain doesn’t make for a very good gun platform from which to shoot. That’s where the stabilizer comes in.
