We are learning more about the ambitious effort to build a new line of nuclear-powered, conventionally armed submarines for the U.K. and Australia that is a key part of the three-phased plan officially unveiled yesterday in San Diego.
The Australian Defense Ministry (MoD) provided some additional details in a document it released about how those boats – which at the moment are set to be delivered to the Royal Australian Navy in the early 2040s – will be built.

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) said that one Royal Air Force (RAF) and one Luftwaffe Eurofighter operating out of Ämari Air Base in Estonia conducted the intercept of a Russian Aerospace Forces (VKA) Ilyushin Il-78 ‘Midas’ tanker.

The US Army Pacific (USARPAC) and the Philippine Army (PA) are conducting the annual bilateral training exercise, Salaknib 2023 (SN23).
An opening ceremony was held in Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija. The first iteration of the exercise was held in 2016.
The army-to-army exercise will see participation from approximately 3,000 troops from the USARPAC’s 25th Infantry Division (25ID) and the PA’s 5th Infantry Division, 7th Infantry Division, and 1st Brigade Combat Team.

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy lifted a lingering vaccine mandate on Friday, days after a scathing letter called for its repeal.

The C-UAS solution, which the company has not named, includes an RF sensor; a short-, medium-, and long-range radar; two cameras; and a net gun-based autonomous unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) countermeasure.
