After decades as the go-to close air support platform for U.S. service members deployed overseas in the Global War on Terror, the beloved A-10 Warthog is slowly evolving to meet the complex missions in a potential future near-peer conflict.
And to do that, it needs bombs. Lots of bombs.

The Australian government has announced an investment of AUD3.8 billion (USD2.5 billion) to improve a network of military bases across the northern part of the country.

On 26 April, German firm Rohde & Schwarz announced that it will supply its R&S SK4110 high-frequency (HF) transmitters and software-defined radios (SDRs) for the Australian Department of Defence’s (DoD’s) Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System (EDHFCS) programme.

The US Department of Defense (DoD) and the European Defence Agency (EDA) formalised a framework for defence co-operation through the signing of an administrative agreement (AA) on 26 April 2023.
The EDA-DoD AA provides for stronger transatlantic cooperation in defense in specific areas, including in the exchange of information.
The AA was signed in Brussels by Jiři Šedivý, EDA Chief Executive, and Dr. William LaPlante, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment.

National Security Council spokesman John Kirby has argued that the Taliban killing of the Islamic State group leader believed responsible for the August 2021 attack on Abbey Gate that killed 13 U.S. service members helps to vindicate President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw all American troops from the country.
“Having him gone is a good thing and it does part and parcel reflect the president’s decision to leave Afghanistan,” Kirby told reporters on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, U.S. officials announced that the Islamic State militant believed to have been the mastermind behind the Abbey Gate suicide bombing at Kabul airport that killed 183 people, including 13 U.S. service members, had been killed in a Taliban ground attack.
Although the Taliban strike occurred earlier this month, U.S. intelligence analysts were only able to determine “with high confidence” that the ISIS-K militant had been killed in recent days.

The U.S. Navy achieved some amazing miracles in the Pacific in World War II. One of those miracles was when it came to damage control and ship salvage. The USS Yorktown nearly sank and then fought at Midway with just three days of repairs. Ships like the USS Virginia sank with extreme damage at Pearl Harbor but later fought again. And the USS O’Brien made it over a month and 2,800 miles from the torpedo that killed it.
Yes. A ship took fatal damage, sailed nearly 3,000 miles, and still stayed afloat long enough for the crew to escape when it finally succumbed to its damage.

Developed from the ArmaLite Rifle AR-15, the M16/M4 family of weapons is synonymous with the modern U.S. military. Naturally, certain generations are associated with different conflicts and eras.
