CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – 1st Marine Division units conducted a series of training events in recent weeks to increase small unit lethality and versatility, with an emphasis on innovative weapon systems, warfighting concepts, and training programs.
U.S. Marines and Sailors from the division took part in a week-long M3E1 Multipurpose Anti-armor Anti-personnel Weapon System program, as well as a multi-day Designated Marksman range. Both training events provided experience and familiarity with weapon systems and tactics necessary to compete in hostile, fluid, and challenging environments.

On April 20, 1836, the Texian Army was racing Mexican dictator Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna towards Lynchburg. The Alamo had fallen, and Gen. Sam Houston’s army of around 900 was the last hope for an independent Texas Republic. As the two sides made camp near Buffalo Bayou, two skirmishes took place. 
Only 500 yards apart, they could likely see each other, but Santa Anna had no idea how large Houston’s army was. While Houston hid much of his force in a wooded area, Santa Anna put his 700-man force in an open plain.

The Pentagon this week began a new series of technology demonstrations and “tactical scenario” exercises to support the Rapid Defense Experimentation Reserve (RDER) initiative, the department announced Wednesday.
As part of this effort, a tech “showcase” at Camp Atterbury, Indiana — named Technology Readiness Experimentation 2023 (TREX23-1) — will run May 16-24 and be hosted in partnership with the Indiana National Guard.
