The Marine Corps is organizing a multi-day hackathon that will feature the development of agents using the military’s enterprise generative AI platform.
The service announced plans for the initiative in a MARADMIN message released Friday that was signed off by Lt. Gen. Joseph Matos III, deputy commandant for information.
One of the tracks for the event, slated to take place Oct. 26-30 at the Naval Postgraduate School, will focus on developing AI agents with tools available on GenAI.

Will Putin Test NATO? – Struggling under the weight of Ukraine’s “long-range sanctions” campaign, which is raising the cost of sustaining the Russian invasion by striking critical energy and logistics infrastructure, Russian President Vladimir Putin is reportedly weighing the possibility of launching a limited attack against NATO territory as early as this fall. Reports this week reveal how U.S. intelligence assessments now believe that Moscow could be prepared to risk a controlled escalation as it seeks to take full control of the Donbas region of Ukraine.

Donald Trump has very clearly wanted certain things out of the war with Iran, whether it’s the end of the Iranian regime, a full, permanent elimination of Iran’s nuclear capability, or, more recently, a full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, or a return to the waterway’s pre-war status quo.

It’s now looking increasingly unlikely that Trump will emerge from the conflict with any of those things. So now the president, who prides himself on being a dealmaker, will need to find a deal he can live with—one that will likely include some sort of compromise on his original, lofty goals.

Lt. Gen. Doug Schiess has been confirmed as the newest chief of space operations, allowing him to become the third person to ever serve as the Space Force’s highest-ranking officer.
The general was nominated for the role in April by President Donald Trump. Senators approved Schiess’ confirmation Thursday night in a unanimous consent vote. After previously serving as the service’s deputy chief of space operations, Schiess is now set to receive his fourth star and take the helm of the Pentagon’s youngest military service as it undergoes major change and growth.
He will be replacing Gen.

Donald Trump is negotiating with Iran, and September is beginning to set the terms. Nobody in the administration is going to say that the refinery maintenance schedule is shaping this decision. Nobody needs to.

The calendar does enough work on its own to explain why Washington might now accept a deal it would have rejected only weeks ago.

The Air National Guard is offering $7,500 bonuses to entice active duty airmen to transfer into state units for three years of service, officials announced. Airmen already in guard units who reenlist will also be eligible for the bonus.
The bonuses, which Air National Guard officials said were part of a “summer surge incentive,” are part of new recruiting and retention initiatives across the force, officials said in a release.
The Air National Guard’s recruiting goal for 2026 is to add nearly 11,580 airmen this year to its current force, according to Air Force Maj.
