Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal today appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take personal action to prevent the implementation of the Indian government’s move to make helmets mandatory for Sikhs in the country’s armed forces.
Terming this move as provocative, harsh, and insensitive, Badal said that this has never happened before in history and is absurd because Sikh soldiers have always been at the forefront of protecting the country. They never needed helmets in the past.

On December 31, 1918, Colonel Luke Lea of the 114th Field Artillery Regiment handed his commanding officer, General R.L. Spaulding, a request for leave from his dreary posting in Allied-occupied Luxembourg. He would not say where he was going or what he intended to do, though he assured the general he had nothing to worry about. General Spaulding called it the strangest request for leave he had ever read, but approved it anyway. After all, Luke Lea was not just an excellent officer, he was also a successful lawyer, newspaper publisher and one-term senator from Tennessee.
The Republic of China Navy is also called the ROC Navy and, colloquially, the Taiwan Navy.
Taiwan Navy, WWII. It was called the Chinese Navy during World War II and before the Republic of China left the country. Due to Taiwan’s ambiguous political position and not to be confused with the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy, the phrase is used locally but less worldwide.
The primary task of the Taiwanese Navy today is to protect and defend the remaining areas of Taiwan and the sea lanes under its jurisdiction from any possible attack or invasion.
When George C. Scott delivered his tour de force as American General George S. Patton in the 1970 move Patton, the media had one main question for veterans that watched the film: “Was he like the real Patton?”
Almost to a man, the dogfaces that served with Patton, especially the vaunted Third Army, said that oh yes, Scott seemed to be Patton and Patton seemed to be Scott.
Operation Desert Storm officially began on January 17, 1991. That’s when a coalition of 34 nations, led by the United States, began bombarding military targets in Iraq. The bombing was in response to that country’s invasion and occupation of Kuwait two months earlier. The air campaign lasted for 42 days and nights before a 100-hour ground offensive drove the Iraqi forces out of Kuwait. The operation came to be known as the Persian Gulf War. It’s also called the First Gulf War or simply Operation Desert Storm.
The Lead-Up
The lead-up to Operation Desert Storm started in August 1990.

Then 51 years old, he knew there was an antiterrorism exercise happening at the base.
The Navy’s Red Cell special operators were testing the base’s responses to certain terrorism situations.
It may seem like one big joke to many in the United States and in American media, but the inability to reach a majority vote for Speaker of the House was having a direct impact on the defense of the United States. Without a speaker, the House of Representatives wasn’t officially in place, and members of Congress were not allowed access to classified or sensitive information.
One of the main sticking points for the opposition to now-Speaker Kevin McCarthy, appeared to be his ongoing support for sending aid to Ukraine.

A few nights ago, I did something I rarely do. I met up with a buddy from my soldiering days. We had a good time, drank a few too many beers, and did what soldiers do best. We told stories. We laughed about the stupid things our Joes did in Iraq, how they got in trouble and saved our asses.
