The Ukrainian Famine lasted from 1923 to 1933 and killed nearly 4 million people, including the only woman killed in what would become known as the Katyn Massacre. Known as the Holodomor, the famine was blamed on the Poles who were subsequently targeted by Stalin and the NKVD, a precursor to the KGB. Vsevolod Balytskyim, the head of NKVD in Ukraine, blamed the mass starvation of Ukrainians on the “Polish Military Organization.” Moreover, Poles accused of belonging to the PMO were also guilty of espionage. Suspected PMO members were “taken care of” by the NKVD.

Usually, when someone or something retires, it’s because they’ve grown a little older — and maybe a little slower — over time. Maybe their skills aren’t as useful as they once were, so they opt to spend their sunset years peacefully watching others take over their old duties. But not the SR-71 Blackbird. It went out with a sonic boom.
The SR-71 was in the prime of its amazing life. This was a titanium bird designed to outrun and spy on the Russians, a bird that was fooling Russians even before it was assembled.
Nearly 20 years after America was born, an Irish architect named James Hoban began laying down the first piece of stone for what would become the White House during an elaborate Freemason ceremony.
Less than 24 hours later, the first piece of stone that was laid down vanished and no one appeared to know its whereabouts. Since then, the search for the stone continues as various participants have attempted to locate the historic piece of foundation.
Unless it’s a submarine, you generally don’t want your ship filling with water. Of course, all ships have some amount of ballast water held in ballast tanks and cargo holds. This provides stability and maneuverability on the sea. In combat though, extreme and unconventional measures are sometimes necessary to accomplish the mission. Launched on May 18, 1912, and commissioned on March 12, 1914, USS Texas (BB-35) sailed almost immediately into action.

In May 1914, she steamed for Mexico in response to the detention of an American gunboat at Tampico.
The US Air Force’s flight schools have a reputation for churning out some of the best pilots in the world. But not even with that standing, only 558 in the service’s entire history were ever able to earn the title “Bandit” — the name awarded exclusively to pilots assigned to fly the Top Secret F-117 Nighthawk stealth jet.
During the first years of the Nighthawk program in the 1980s, candidate pilots were drawn from a pool of fast-jet pilots.

One of the most frustrating things about any DIY project is to be caught without the one socket that you need and don’t have (why is it always the 10mm?). Wasting time searching high and low, and then going on yet another trip to the hardware store gets annoying. You’re putting the task on hold and spending more money than you need to in the process.
Suddenly, what was a quick project turns into an all-day—or multi-day—ordeal.
But how do you avoid that? Preparation. And in your garage, you prepare by building a solid collection of organized sockets.
Jamie Farr hails from Toledo, Ohio, and remains grounded in his hometown roots. At 89 years old, his work in Hollywood spans over half a century, which includes him as Klinger in M*A*S*H. His career started back in 1955 in The Blackboard Jungle which starred Glenn Ford and Sidney Poitier. He was drafted into the Army soon thereafter and served abroad in Japan and Korea where he was requested to work for famous comedian Red Skelton on his tour to entertain US troops in Korea.
In the first few weeks of boot camp, every recruit will get in a line during their medical evaluations and get stuck in the arm with all sorts of needles and have thermometers shoved into some uncomfortable places. Welcome to the military! Out of all the medications recruits get injected with throughout their processing week, none of them are as feared as the almighty “peanut butter” shot. This tasty-sounding treat isn’t reserved for one branch of the military – – everyone gets one.
While these peanut butter shots are awesome, the ones we get in boot camp are far from exciting.
The open road calls, and setting off for destinations unknown in a recreational vehicle (RV), unplugging from everything, is more important than ever to escape our world’s day-to-day craziness. Buy you may need air conditioning, depending on your destination. Also, you should charge your mobile devices in case of an emergency, just to be safe. And maybe you should bring a small TV to binge watch your favorite show. OK, you’re going to need a refrigerator for food and drinks.
Since the halcyon days of World War II frogmen, Navy SEALs have completed some of the most dangerous missions while remaining hidden in shadows — until the tell-all book comes out, that is.
Although the few who have earned the beloved SEAL Trident are considered the toughest the military has to offer, like anybody, they also have a humorous side the world rarely gets to see — until now.
So, kick back, enjoy and try not to laugh too hard — they could be watching.
These are the best Navy SEAL memes we could find on the internet:
