The Indian Army is interested in buying the Pitbull remote-controlled weapon station made by the Israeli company General Robotics (RCWS). The CEO of General Robotics, Shahar Gal, told Janes that the Indian Army and the Indian Navy are “willing to purchase the company’s Pitbull RCWS.”
General Robotics, an Israeli company that makes light and smart remote control weapon stations, makes the PITBULL Remote Control Weapons Stations (RCWS) with improved AI-driven capabilities. This gives armored vehicles and unmanned platforms much better situational awareness, response time, and firepower.
The future battlefields include wide open regions ideal for tank combat, pitting the Russian T-90 against the British-supplied Challenger 2.
In light of recent developments in the Ukraine war, large-scale armored combat in the east of the besieged country may soon follow.
According to the BBC, Britain has promised to supply 14 Challenger 2 tanks and 30 AS90 155mm self-propelled guns to Ukraine, marking a significant increase in Western backing for the country. The latest military aid package reflects “the UK’s determination to step up its support,” the paper claims.

Elbit Systems is to equip the British Army with new short-range reconnaissance unmanned aerial systems (UASs).
The company was awarded a contract from the UK Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) Future Capability Group for the provision of its Magni-X micro-UAS, the company announced on 12 January.
An undisclosed number of the vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) UAS will be delivered by mid-2023 to specialist British Army units, the company said.

UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace announced to the House of Commons on 16 January that he is accelerating the British Army’s Mobile Fires Platform (MFP) programme, so that it delivers during the 2020s rather than the 2030s. He said he has also directed an interim artillery capability to be delivered, subject to commercial negotiation.
Janes understands that the UK now plans for the MFP to enter service in 2027.

Despite continued reports of receding ice in the Arctic, the recent deployment by the icebreaker US Coast Guard (USCG) Cutter Healy (WAGB-20) showed the necessity to build more icebreakers, Commanding Officer (CO) Captain Ken Boda told Janes ahead of the Surface Navy Association (SNA) annual symposium held from 10 to 12 January in Arlington, Virginia.
