A Marine veteran waded hip-deep into freezing water to rescue two women whose car had run off the road and into a pond on Jan.16 in Hammond, Indiana.
Carlos Fernandez credited his time in the Marine Corps with allowing him to react so quickly to the emergency.
“I think it was the Marine in me, which just instantly was like, ‘Hey, you always got to do the right thing,” he told WLS-TV, a Chicago television station.

The Space Development Agency’s next-generation network of military satellites to deliver missile warnings and other critical information — formerly named the National Defense Space Architecture (NDSA) — has officially been rebranded as the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA).
This formal title change was deemed effective and publicly announced on Monday. The shift is ultimately meant to better convey a more sharpened scope of SDA’s in-the-making, layered satellite network and associated elements.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has released rare footage of the inside of a reactor compartment on an operational nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine. The recently released fiscal 2022 annual report of the Office of the Director, Operational Test and Evaluation asserts that “the DOD’s abilities to assess against Red Teams portraying nation state adversaries remain limited due to persistent resource and personnel shortfalls,” adding “[a]nother persistent shortfall in the DOD’s cyber posture is the lack of adequate cyber test capabilities.

A fighter jet, tearing over an airbase at low level, afterburner ablaze, is a highly familiar trope by now, whether as part of an airshow or something less official. But multiple jets ‘thumping’ an airfield, from all directions, in a simulated multi-vector attack profile, is certainly not something we see every day, especially in an age of precision guided weapons.
