In yet another blow to military service members, those who did not meet the full term of their contract due to being kicked out of the military for not complying with the Covid vaccine mandate are now being forced to pay back their recruitment bonuses, in addition to losing their jobs and careers.
After years of dedication to the military and their country, many service members see the signing bonus pay back as a “kick in the face.

Fincantieri launched the landing platform dock (LPD) amphibious assault ship it is building for Qatar at its shipyard in Palermo on 24 January, confirming it is equipped with vertical launch systems (VLSs).

The first of five landing craft utility (LCU) Mk IX vessels operated by the Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN) has started its mid-life upgrade (MLU) programme.
The first unit, L 9525, entered dry dock at De Haas Shipyards in Rotterdam on 21 January, according to the Dutch Materiel Organisation.
De Haas Shipyards was awarded a contract to conduct the LCU MLU in October 2022, with work to be completed by 2025.

Nurol Makina presented its 4×4vehicles at Defence iQ’s International Armoured Vehicles (IAV) 2023 conference being held in London from 23 to 26 January. The Turkish company’s 18 tonne Ejder Yalçın and 14 tonne NMS vehicles, the latter under development, are considered suitable for high-intensity operations because of the employment of 4×4vehicles by private military companies like the Wagner Group and by special forces in Ukraine.

The US Navy (USN) will be continuing testing on guided-missile destroyer USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000) into the coming fiscal year (FY), according to the Pentagon’s Director, Operational Test and Evaluation (DOT&E).

Raytheon Technologies has announced net sales of $67.07bn for the full year 2022, up 4% compared to $64.38bn in the year prior.
Earnings per share (EPS) from continuing operations were $3.51, up 36% versus the previous year. Adjusted EPS was $4.78, an increase of 12%.
Net income for the year was $5.216bn, operating cash flow from continuing operations was $7.168bn, and free cash flow was $4.88bn.

During the fourth quarter (Q4) 2022, the company recorded a 6% increase in net sales of $18.1bn, when compared to Q4 2021. 
The net income for the reported quarter was $1.42bn.
