AFP has learned military-focused USAA has raised car insurance rates in the red, heavily active-duty military and veteran populated state of Florida over 100%.
One source told us his 6 month policy for a 2019 truck went up almost six thousand dollars, or a thousand dollars a month. The USAA Facebook chat is filled with military members in The Sunshine State enraged at the development.
We called USAA to ask questions about the issue and were told rates across the state of Florida were heavily increased. No reason was provided.

US-based General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc (GA-ASI) has offered to transfer two company-owned MQ-9A Reaper unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), a ground-control station, and related equipment to Ukraine for the symbolic price of USD1 to help the war-torn country improve its airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, according to GA-ASI’s chief executive.

A coroner has determined that Air Force Academy Cadet 3rd Class Hunter Brown died of a blood clot in his lungs that was caused by an injury to his left foot that he sustained during football practice weeks earlier, according to a copy of Brown’s autopsy report that was provided to Task & Purpose.
El Paso County Coroner Jarod Murdoch has ruled that Brown’s Jan. 9 death was accidental, the autopsy report says. The Colorado Springs Gazette newspaper first reported on Murdoch’s findings.

The FBI is greatly expanding its headquarters, which leaves many wondering if it will be expanding its ranks as well. The FBI is planning to build a new headquarters building, which is expected to be twice the size of the Pentagon.
One cannot help but wonder if the Bureau will be expanding the number of agents to fill such a massive building and what the FBI needs such a huge headquarters for anyway.

It’s a boat. It’s a plane. It’s both. The Liberty Lifter X-plane is a concept for a ground effect vehicle for “seaborne strategic and tactical heavy lift” according to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Now, two companies — Aurora Flight Sciences and General Atomics — have been selected to build it.
The requirements for the Liberty Lifter call for a plane similar in size and cargo capacity to a C-17 Globemaster III.

The Royal Danish Navy (Søværnet: SVN) is expected to announce the formal replacement of its ocean patrol vessels this year, a Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) official said at the 2023 Maritime Reconnaissance and Surveillance Technology conference held in London on 1 and 2 February.
The US Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) has awarded a contract to Lumen Technologies for secure, mission-critical communications services.
The $223m contract will support the US Department of Defense’s (DoD) mission both at home and overseas.
It has been awarded under the 15-year, $50bn Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) programme of the General Services Administration.
The contract has a one-year base performance period and three one-year options. It can be extended further by six months.
