The Pentagon on Friday officially confirmed that the U.S. will include an undisclosed number of Ground Launched Small Diameter Bombs (GLSDB) in the latest $2.17 billion tranche of aid to Ukraine.
The munition – officially listed on the aid package as “precision-guided rockets,” will provide a major boost to Ukraine’s efforts to take back territory from Russia by giving its troops the capability to hit targets at distances much further than longest-range munitions already provided to Kyiv.

North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command continue to closely track a Chinese high-altitude balloon — which is “maneuverable” and moving eastward over the continental United States at an altitude around 60,000 feet, Pentagon Press Secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said Friday.
Ryder held a press briefing shortly after the People’s Republic of China released a statement that its “airship” went off-course into American airspace while conducting weather research. However, U.S. officials say the balloon is being used for surveillance purposes.

Foreign nationals working on U.S. Central Command installations in locations like Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar could soon have artificial intelligence monitoring their every move.
That’s according to a new Air Force request for information, seeking contractors capable of providing such an AI-driven surveillance system so that force protection personnel will not have to watch “other country nationals,” as the solicitation refers to them, while they work on Centcom’s forward locations.

Army Maj. Gen. Kenneth Kamper has been suspended as commanding general of the U.S. Army Fires Center of Excellence at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, amid an investigation by the Army Inspector General’s Office, service spokeswoman Cynthia Smith said on Friday.
While Smith declined to say exactly what Kamper is being investigated for, she told Task & Purpose that none of the allegations under investigation involve accusations of sexual misconduct.
