Teledyne FLIR Defense has received a contract to expand the capabilities of the R80D SkyRaider uncrewed aerial system (UAS) in support of the US Army’s missions.
The contract has been awarded by the US Department of Defense (DoD) and is valued at approximately $13.3m.
Under this contract, the company will work to integrate new flight control software with the R80D platform, allowing the forces to autonomously operate the UAS for conducting chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) reconnaissance missions.
According to BAE Systems, Italy may be considering additional Eurofighters to offset the retirement of the Panavia Tornado and to replace older model Tranche 1 aircraft. (Janes/Gareth Jennings)

The UK has announced a new training initiative to ensure that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have the capability to fly Nato-standard combat aircraft in the future.
The announcement was issued by the British Prime Minister’s Office. It comes after a bilateral meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on 8 February.
