English is the international language of aviation, but it can be a useful asset to know the native language of whoever you are flying with. This imagined interaction shows the wingman directing an “ops check,” in Arabic to which the flight lead (Pilot One) responds “One’s 3.6,” which indicates his or her remaining fuel in thousands of pounds. A senior USAF official has raised concerns over China’s aspirations in the Middle East, as Washington seeks to maintain its position as a leading provider of security and trade to countries in the region.
Lt Gen Alex Grynkewich, commander, Ninth Air Force (Air Forces Central), a component of US Central Command (CENTCOM)has claimed that China is a threat in the Middle East, as US forces in the region maintain a presence to keep collaborations with countries in the area from Beijing’s ambitions.
The Red Baron is more than a badass nickname, a frozen pizza brand, or the target of Snoopy’s Sopwith Camel. He was a real man, a German pilot during World War I who is considered to be the “Ace of Aces” of the war, with 80 aerial victories over the skies of Western Europe. His real name was Manfred von Richthofen, and by 1918, the last year of the war, he was a national hero in Germany.
1918 was also the year that saw an allied airman finally end The Red Baron’s string of wins in air combat, and along with it, the man’s life.
The 1965 Battle of Ia Drang saw the first major engagement between the United States Army and the People’s Army of North Vietnam (PAVN). The intense, four-day battle in South Vietnam’s Central Highlands became the template for how Americans fought pitched battles against North Vietnamese forces, using helicopters for air mobility, close air support from fixed-wing aircraft, and artillery that could help shield American troops from miles away.
The North Vietnamese had no qualms about firing on incoming and outgoing U.S.
Camping never goes out of style. And, if you’re tired of hotels or if you find hostels hostile then, FamCamps are just the destination you didn’t know you wanted.
If you’re eyeing the calendar and itching for an adventure, consider vacationing at one of the military’s fine campgrounds or RV parks. Go hiking in the woods, swimming in the lakes, and even fishing in the ocean if you get a hankering for halibut.
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — As the Navy looks to more tightly integrate information warfare personnel into its fleets, the next phase could include submarines.
Last year, the Navy began a pilot aboard two submarines to embed a variety of information warfare (IW) officers and sailors.
It’s been “so successful that they are going to commit to invest full time probably in at least two cryptologic technicians to be on board to do [electronic warfare], and we’re going to start building out an officer base so we have a full time IW junior officer on board summaries,” Vice Adm.
As the West continues its efforts to supply Ukraine with a wide range of military industrial resources from HIMARS to tanks, with long-term training for fighter jet pilots, Russia is beginning to fall behind with its own output.
The UK Ministry of Defence, in its latest intelligence update on the war, suggested that Russia’s military industrial output is “becoming a critical weakness” as “production is almost certainly falling short of Russian MoD’s demands”.
This is indicated by senior Russian officials calling for more progress in Russia’s defence industry.
Producing enough ammunition has become the aim of the game on the world stage as Ukraine’s expenditure exceeds the rate of supply.
The US Department of Defense has responded to the call as they set their defence firms against each other to compete for the production of 155mm rounds of ammunition on 15 February.
General Dynamics and American Ordnance LLC are set to compete for each order of the $993.8m firm-fixed-price with economic price adjustment contract to produce the ammunition.
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — As the entire Department of Defense is beginning to grapple with the outsized importance of the wholistic information environment, the Navy’s Pacific Fleet determined it needed its own information command to integrate these critical capabilities.
Officials want to use info-ops to shape conditions and public and international perceptions during day-to-day competition below the threshold of conflict, deter actions that might lead to war, and achieve other operational benefits.

It’s been more than a week since a U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor assigned to the 1st Fighter Wing at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia downed a Chinese spy balloon off the Carolina coast with an AIM-9X missile, and some of you are still sharing photos of an alleged aerial victory marking across the side of the purported jet that made the kill.
